The Winona State women played an unbelievable game this past weekend at the NSIC Holiday Hoopsfest in Sioux Falls, SD. They beat Minnesota State University-Mankato by a final score of 60-59 in an incredible comeback. The game-winning shot was rattled in from defensive specialist Bonnie Bjorke on the same exact baseline jumper play that the Warriors used to beat the Minnesota Golden-Gophers in exhibition play.
This dramatic win came one day following a disappointing loss for the Warrior women against the University of Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles. It’s tough to judge how good this Warrior women’s team really is when they played two completely different basketball games and look extremely different in doing so.
The backcourt play of Dulas and Glander has been exceptional and was nothing short of that against Mankato. The Mavericks won the national title game last year and were undefeated going into the game against the Warriors but a 14-point lead was not enough for Minnesota State. The Warrior women stormed back and Bjorke sealed the deal with a base-line jumper.
This was the fourth dramatic finish for the Warrior women this year already counting two exhibition games. The Warriors have been fortunate enough to finish ahead in all three close games with the exception of the overtime loss to Crookston at NSIC Hoopsfest.
